Reflection on Weebly E-Portfolio and Future Portfolio Plans
My experience with creating a Weebly E-Portfolio has been overwhelmingly positive. Having to become familiar with the technology to create the portfolio has actually been extremely beneficial in other classes; I've had to make use of Prezi and Audacity in outside classes. Not only that, but knowing that I have this e-portfolio has made me work harder in other classes in order to have something additional to present in my e-portfolio. Therefore, I've become more intentional in my work because it has another purpose beside simply turning assignments in on time. And, when given the opportunity to choose my own topics for assignments, I've tried to choose assignments that will pertain to my e-portfolio.
It's been interesting to see how I've developed through the projects I've done. Putting all my "life's work," in a way, into one place on the portfolio has been especially interesting, and I have been able to see how past events have influenced my values now and been able to reflect on past experiences. It's also been interesting knowing that I will now have an "audience" for my work; it's given a purpose to my assignments and given me accountability and a desire to "put my best foot forward" and really apply myself to my work.
Overall, I think that e-portfolios are a fantastic way for students to showcase their work; they are simple to create, completely portable and digital, and easy to organize. I will definitely keep adding artifacts to my Weebly, and I look forward to using e-portfolios in the future with my own teaching and my own students.
